We recommend that you give your guests plenty of notice before inviting them to your wedding, Save the Dates are a great and cost effective way of doing just that if all you have is a date and should be sent from around nine months to a year in advance of the wedding
After you save the dates are sent out and you plan all the other aspects of the wedding you can think about sending the formal invitations, these should really be sent out at least six months before the date of the wedding, this will give you plenty of time to invite guests on your ‘subs bench’ if people cannot attend, for that reason it’s always a good idea to order and extra couple of invitations for that reason
The invitation itself is a great way of setting the tone of your wedding, letting your guest know what kind of day to expect by the style of the invitation, and also a statement about the personalities of the couple. When putting together info for the main invitation try to keep it simple, Who is hosting, the names of the couple, the date & time and venue are all you really need as accommodation, gift wishes, directions, rsvp etc can all be added to a separate cards…
On the big day itself it’s always a nice touch to have matching stationery in the form of seating plans, place cards, table numbers and any other signs….
